No more Top 100 security tools, no more LiveCDs and no more exploitation frameworks. A security auditor without toolbox is like a cop without gun.

Nevertherless, there is maybe a way to rescue yourself from this nightmare situation.

The magical solution could be Firefox and its extensions developed by ethical hackers and coders.

Information gathering

Whois and geo-location
- ShowIP : Show the IP address of the current page in the status bar. It also allows querying custom services by IP (right mouse button) and Hostname (left mouse button), like whois, netcraft.
- Shazou : The product called Shazou (pronounced Shazoo it is Japanese for mapping) enables the user with one-click to map and geo-locate any website they are currently viewing.
- HostIP.info Geolocation : Displays Geolocation information for a website using hostip.info data. Works with all versions of Firefox.
- Active Whois : Starting Active Whois to get details about any Web site owner and its host server.
- Bibirmer Toolbar : An all-in-one extension. But auditors need to play with the toolbox. It includes ( WhoIs, DNS Report, Geolocation , Traceroute , Ping ). Very useful for information gathering phase

Enumeration / fingerprinting
- Header Spy: Shows HTTP headers on statusbar
- Header Monitor : This is Firefox extension for display on statusbar panel any HTTP response header of top level document returned by a web server. Example: Server (by default), Content-Encoding, Content-Type, X-Powered-By and others.

Social engineering
- People Search and Public Record: This Firefox extension is a handy menu tool for investigators, reporters, legal professionals, real estate agents, online researchers and anyone interested in doing their own basic people searches and public record lookups as well as background research.

Googling and spidering
- Advanced dork : Gives quick access to Google’s Advanced Operators directly from the context menu. This could be used to scan for hidden files or narrow in a target anonymously (via the scroogle.org option) [Updated Definition. Thanks to CP author of Advanced Dork]
- SpiderZilla : Spiderzilla is an easy-to-use website mirror utility, based on Httrack from www.httrack.com.
- View Dependencies : View Dependencies adds a tab to the "page info" window, in which it lists all the files which were loaded to show the current page. (useful for a spidering technique)

Security Assessment / Code auditing

Editors
- JSView : The ’view page source’ menu item now opens files based on the behavior you choose in the jsview options. This allows you to open the source code of any web page in a new tab or in an external editor.
- Cert Viewer Plus : Adds two options to the certificate viewer in Firefox or Thunderbird: an X.509 certificate can either be displayed in PEM format (Base64/RFC 1421, opens in a new window) or saved to a file (in PEM or DER format - and PKCS#7 provided that the respective patch has been applied - cf.
- Firebug : Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page
- XML Developer Toolbar:allows XML Developer’s use of standard tools all from your browser.

Headers manipulation
- HeaderMonitor : This is Firefox extension for display on statusbar panel any HTTP response header of top level document returned by a web server. Example: Server (by default), Content-Encoding, Content-Type, X-Powered-By and others.
- RefControl : Control what gets sent as the HTTP Referer on a per-site basis.
- User Agent Switcher :Adds a menu and a toolbar button to switch the user agent of the browser

Cookies manipulation
- Add N Edit Cookies : Cookie Editor that allows you add and edit "session" and saved cookies.
- CookieSwap : CookieSwap is an extension that enables you to maintain numerous sets or "profiles" of cookies that you can quickly swap between while browsing
- httpOnly : Adds httpOnly cookie support to Firefox by encrypting cookies marked as httpOnly on the browser side
- Allcookies : Dumps ALL cookies (including session cookies) to Firefox standard cookies.txt file

Security auditing
- HackBar : This toolbar will help you in testing sql injections, XSS holes and site security. It is NOT a tool for executing standard exploits and it will NOT learn you how to hack a site. Its main purpose is to help a developer do security audits on his code.
- Tamper Data : Use tamperdata to view and modify HTTP/HTTPS headers and post parameters.
- Chickenfoot : Chickenfoot is a Firefox extension that puts a programming environment in the browser’s sidebar so you can write scripts to manipulate web pages and automate web browsing. In Chickenfoot, scripts are written in a superset of Javascript that includes special functions specific to web tasks.

Proxy/web utilities

FoxyProxy : FoxyProxy is an advanced proxy management tool that completely replaces Firefox’s proxy configuration. It offers more features than SwitchProxy, ProxyButton, QuickProxy, xyzproxy, ProxyTex, etc
SwitchProxy: SwitchProxy lets you manage and switch between multiple proxy configurations quickly and easily. You can also use it as an anonymizer to protect your computer from prying eyes
POW (Plain Old WebServer) : The Plain Old Webserver uses Server-side Javascript (SJS) to run a server inside your browser. Use it to distribute files from your browser. It supports Server-side JS, GET, POST, uploads, Cookies, SQLite and AJAX. It has security features to password-protect your site. Users have created a wiki, chat room and search engine using SJS.

- Fire Encrypter : FireEncrypter is an Firefox extension which gives you encryption/decryption and hashing functionalities right from your Firefox browser, mostly useful for developers or for education & fun.

Malware scanner
- QArchive.org web files checker : llowing people to check web files for any malware (viruses, trojans, worms, adware, spyware and other unwanted things) inclusions.
- Dr.Web anti-virus link checker : This plugin allows you to check any file you are about to download, any page you are about to visit
- ClamWin Antivirus Glue for Firefox : This extension scans every downloaded file automatically with ClamWin.

Anti Spoof
- refspoof : Easy to pretend to origin from a site by overriding the url referrer (in a http request). — it incorporates this feature by using the pseudo-protocol spoof:// .. thus it’s possible to store the information in a "hyperlink" - that can be used in any context .. like html pages or bookmarks

How to Adjust Taskbar Thumbnail Live Preview Delay Time in Windows 7

Recently we posted about adjusting Taskbar thumbnail delay time. In Windows 7, whenever you hover your mouse cursor over a running application's button in Taskbar, Windows shows a small thumbnail of running application with a close button.

And if you hover your mouse cursor over the small thumbnail, Windows shows a live preview of the running application and makes all other running applications windows transparent.

Today we are sharing a small registry trick which can be used to adjust the live preview delay time. You can set the delay time to 1000 milliseconds (or 1 second) to get the live previews faster.

So here we start the tutorial:

1. Type regedit in RUN or Startmenu Searchbox and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

3. In right-side pane, create a new DWORD value ThumbnailLivePreviewHoverTime

4. Now you'll need to set its value to your desired delay time. Double-click on it and select "Base" as Decimal and enter the desired value. Remember the value should be given in milliseconds. Set the value to 1000 for best experience.

You can use any value but it should be greater than 0.

5. That's it. Log off or restart your system to take effect.

NOTE: If you want to restore default settings, simply delete "ThumbnailLivePreviewHoverTime" DWORD value created in Step 3.

How to Remove Program Icons from Windows Titlebar and Taskbar Buttons?

Today we are going to share a very small utility which can hide program icon from its window and Taskbar button. Why to use it? Actually lots of people like minimal look and as you can see Microsoft removed icons from Explorer toolbar to make it minimal, the same thing applies for Taskbar buttons.

As you can see in above screenshot, the program icon is not visible in window titlebar as well as in Taskbar button.

This utility works in Windows XP, Vista and 7. But in Vista and 7, it only hides titlebar icon, Taskbar button icon remains visible.
Simply run the EXE file and enjoy the minimal look.

To get the icons back, open Task Manager (by right-clicking on Taskbar and select "Task Manager" or by pressing "Ctrl+Shift+Esc" keys together) and End Task of "TBarIconBlanker.exe".

You can add its shortcut to "Startup" folder in All Programs menu to start it automatically with Windows.

Leading up to the inevitable leak of the Windows 7 RTM build like a bottle of champagne shaken once too many times, I wanted to make this process of verifying file hashes even simpler by making it easy and convenient to generate and compare the hashes. With the help of Sven Groot, we came up with this little applet for your Windows 7 ISO verifying pleasure.

It couldn’t be any easier to use. Simple drag and drop an .ISO file onto this EXE, or double click on it and navigate to the file, then sit back and relax whilst it crunches the numbers. Once it generates a hash, it’ll compare it with a list of known and trustworthy hashes of ISOs to tell you exactly which build version and architecture it is known to be. WEP Hacking - The Next Generation

WEP is an encryption scheme, based on the RC-4 cipher, that is available on all 802.11a, b and g wireless products. WEP uses a set of bits called a key to scramble information in the data frames as it leaves the access point or client adapter and the scrambled message is then decrypted by the receiver.

Both sides must have the same WEP key, which is usually a total of 64 or 128 bits long. A semi-random 24 bit number called an Initialization Vector (IV), is part of the key, so a 64 bit WEP key actually contains only 40 bits of strong encryption while a 128 bit key has 104. The IV is placed in encrypted frames header, and is transmitted in plain text.

Traditionally, cracking WEP keys has been a slow and boring process. An attacker would have to capture ndreds of thousands or millions of packetsï¿½a process that could take hours or even days, depending on the volume of traffic passing over the wireless network. After enough packets were captured, a WEP cracking program such as Aircrack would be used to find the WEP key.

Fast-forward to last summer, when the first of the latest generation of WEP cracking tools appeared. This current generation uses a combination of statistical techniques focused on unique IVs captured and brute-force dictionary attacks to break 128 bit WEP keys in minutes instead of hours. As Special Agent Bickers noted, It does'nt matter if you use 128 bit WEP keys, you are vulnerable!

In this tutorial I will teach you how to hack a windows XP password without any programs. All you need is access to the Windows Command Prompt. Please do not use this for anything other than educational purposes. I take no responsibility to any harm that you inflict on your computer!

Step 1: Click on Start, then on Run, and type in CMD, then hit enter.

Step 2: Now a black box will appear, type in net user and hit enter.

Step 3: Now you'll notice how all the accounts on the computer will be displayed, pick the account you want to hack.

Step 4: Now type in net user ACCOUNT NAME * and hit enter.

Step 5: It will ask you to replace the existing password, this is how we over-write it.

Step 6: Type in your new password, and hit enter, now type it again, and hit enter one last time.

Note: If the account name is two words, seperated by a space, for example Riad Sbai, then you must wrap the name with quotations. So the final like should look like net user "riad sbai" *

Instructions:

1) Open up MS-DOS/Command Prompt, by going to Run and typing cmd.
2) When the black box pops up, Type in "nslookup". (Without ")
3) If typed in correctly, A arrow like ">" Will show up now, If you have the arrow, Type in "set type=mx"
4) Now another ">" will come up. Type in the name of the mail domain of your victim that your sending the email to. (hotmail.com, gmail.com, yahoo.com, etc.)
5) you should come up with a list of nameservers, MX servers, and internet addresses. What we are interested in are the MX preferences (The Very Top Ones). Take note of the one with the highest MX preference. Now, type "exit".
6)Now, Open up Start > Run again, Only this time Insted of cmd, Put: "telnet [mail server] 25", where telnet is the command, the mail server is the one with the highest MX preference, and 25 is the port number.
Ex) telnet gsmtp183.google.com 25, where gsmtp183.google.com is a mail server for gmail.com.

7) If all is well, you should get a 220, meaning a greeting on a connection. To make sure you are connected, type in "ehlo" or "helo". If you get a 250 on either one, you're set.
8) now, type in "mail from:" and the email you will send "from".

9) You should get a 250. Type in rcpt to: and the victim's email.
Ex) rcpt to:
10) Once you get a 250, you should now start the data. Type in data, and press enter. You should get a 354
11) First off, you have to start with the headers. Type "To: [Victim's email nickname] [victims email]", without quotes. Press enter. Type "From: [your fake name] [your spoofed email address]", without the quotes. Press enter. Type in "Reply- To: [your spoofed email address]" without quotes. This is the most basic type.
12) To start writing your message, press enter twice to skip a line. Type whatever message you want, and BE CAREFUL NOT TO SCREW UP. Your message will screw up if you backspace.
13) To show that your message has ended, press enter, type "." (without quotes) and press enter again. You should get a 250. Close your connection by typing "quit" without quotes, and pressing enter.
Notice:
If your typing in the telnet command, and it just says "Connecting" You may have to forward port 25!
Otherwise try a different MX Server

Create a Bootable USB Drive to Install Windows Vista

Get your hands on a USB drive that’s at least 3GB in size. You’ll also need a Windows Vista installation disk.
Format the USB Drive

1. Insert the USB drive into your computer.
2. Right-click Computer in the Start menu and then select Manage.
3. Select Disk Management under Storage in the left column of the Computer Management window.

4. Right-click the USB drive in the bottom center section of the Computer Management window and select Format. Warning: Make sure you select the right disk to format. Formatting a disk will erase all data on it.

5. Change the file system to NTFS and then click OK to format the USB drive.
6. Wait for the USB drive to be formatted. The formatting progress will be shown in the Computer Management window.

Set the USB Drive’s Volume to Active

1. Open the command prompt with administrative privileges by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, and the right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

2. Type diskpart in the command prompt and then press enter on your keyboard.

3. Type list volume and the press enter.
4. Find the USB drive in the list of volumes. In this example Volume 3 is the USB disk I’m using. Select the volume by typing select volume X (with X being the volume number of the appropriate USB drive) and then press enter.

5. Set the volume as active by typing active and then press enter.

6. Type exit and then press enter.

Create a Boot Sector on the USB Drive

1. You’ll need a utility called bootsect.exe which can be found in any Windows Vista DVD in the boot folder. Copy bootsect.exe from a Windows Vista installation disk and past it in the C:\Windows\System32 directory in your computer.
2. Once you copied bootsect.exe from a Vista installation disk to the System32 folder on your computer, type bootsect /nt60 X: (where X is the drive letter of the USB drive) and then press enter.

Copy Windows Vista Installation Files

1. Insert a Windows Vista installation DVD.
2. Open Computer from the Start Menu.
3. Right-click the DVD drive the Vista install DVD is in and select Explore.
4. Copy all of the files from the Vista installation DVD and past them in the USB drive.

Now you can install Windows Vista from a USB drive!

Tips to Slim Down Vista

Windows Vista, whether the source setup files and after installation system files,
took up a lot of hard disk drive space. Just try to imagine from the fact that Windows
XP fits into a CD (maximum 700 MB), while Windows Vista requires a DVD (max 4.7 GB).
Windows Vista is fat and obese, but that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to ’slim’
down the Vista to make it uses less disk space and reclaim some storage for larger and
larger media and date files. The tips below suggests several not system critical files
that can be safely deleted and removed from the system without causing instability.

%SystemDrive%\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

The directory stores backup copy of the built-in drivers in Windows Vista. You probably won’t
need most of the drivers, unless you plan to install new hardware. Even if there is new hardware,
it should comes with a Vista-compliant driver. So the folder can be removed. Depending on which
edition of your Vista, deleting “FileRepository” folder can reclaim at least 1 GB of disk space,

To delete “FileRepository” directory, users must first take ownership and grant full control
permissions to users’ account for the directories and all sub-folders recursively.
Use TakeControlOf command script or add a Take Ownership in right click menu to easily do the task.

%SystemDrive%\Boot

“Boot” folder stores Windows Vista boot screen for different language editions. If you’re using
only a single language of Vista, such as “en-US” (for American English) or “de-DE” (for German)
or another other localized langauge, the others not in use can be removed to save about 13.3 MB disk space.

To remove “Boot” folder, users also required to claim ownership and assume full control access on
the directory and all its subdirectories as per instruction above.

%SystemDrive%\perflogs\System\Diagnostics

“perflogs” folder is created by Performance Information and Tools, and Reliability and Performance
Monitor that tests and measures Vista system score rating and performance to save the recorded files.
The data is saved in “perflogs\System\Diagnostics” according to folders named by date. If you no longer
need the performance data, delete the folder. Vista will slim down by about 10 MB.

%SystemDrive%\Windows\Downloaded Installations

Some programs such as Adobe (Macromedia) Dreamweaver will extract and unpack the setup files into this
folder during installation. After installed, the files are unused and can be erased.

%SystemDrive%\ProgramData

Some installers such as iTunes will unpack and extract setup files to this directory, which can safely
removed. In the example, iTunes will C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes which stores
installation files. However, note that most files and folders here are needed for proper execution of
applications. So delete with care.

%SystemDrive%\Windows\Help

Not really recommended, but if you feel that you already master Vista, and really running out of disk
space acutely, removing the Help files will free up around 105 MB space.

%SystemDrive%\Windows\IME

Input Method Editor (IME) provides a way for users to type and enter text in Windows system. If you have
installed a few IMEs, but no longer use them, delete the correct corresponding folders to free disk space.
Warning though, it’s hard to determine which folder should match with which IME, and any wrong deletion will
render system unstable. Each IME may takes up tens of megabytes.

%SystemDrive%\Windows\Installer

The uninstallation programs for installed programs are stored here. If you confirm and sure that yuo won’t
uninstall a program after installation, it’s possible to remove the uninstaller for the program. Depending
on the number of apps installed, the storage space recovered can add up hundreds of MB.

%SystemDrive%\Windows\Web\Wallpaper

The free wallpaper graphics and images that come packaged with Vista. Remove and delete or move the unused
or not needed wallpapers to another drive. Mind you, the wallpapers are high resolution and big in size.
Deleting all of them will free up 45 MB.

%SystemDrive%\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

The contents inside “SoftwareDistribution” folder are record date about the system updates installed,
and cannot be removed or deleted. However, it’s possible to delete files inside “Download” folder which
are the source setup files downloaded.

%SystemDrive%\Users\Public

The public document folders for all users. Vista populates the public folders with several media files such
as pictures and videos of about 220 MB in size, which can be deleted if not used. For example,
“C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\Sample Media” folder is the sample recorded video clips of Windows Media
Center and eats up 143 MB disk space, while “C:\Users\Public\Music\Sample Music” contains 59 MB of
free .wma music, “C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Sample Pictures” has about 5 MB of sample photos, and
“C:\Users\Public\Videos” has about 10 MB of sample videos.

Last but not least, always use the Vista Cleaner script to remove unwanted and unneeded files in the PC,
and it’s also possible to delete the hiberfil.sys of GBs in size from the system.

Enable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in Internet Explorer 7

Because browsers can host plug-in extensibility, security settings within the browser can make plug-ins fail. This is why in Internet Explorer 7 Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is off by default. You can set it to delete files from a previous Windows installation, error dump files, Temporary Windows installation files, Thumbnails, Files discarded by Windows upgrade, Error Reporting Files, ect. Note: It performs a Disc Cleanup on all disks.

You can use the shortcut in the attached zip file or create a new shortcut with this command line:

Turn Windows Features on or off

Some programs and features that are included with Windows, such as Internet Information Services, must be turned on before you can use them. Certain other features are turned on by default, but you can turn them off if you don’t use them.

In earlier versions of Windows, to turn a feature off you had to uninstall it completely from your computer. In this version of Windows, the features remain stored on your hard disk, so you can turn them back on if you want to. Turning off a feature does not uninstall the feature, and it does not reduce the amount of hard disk space used by Windows features.

Open the Control Panel, click Programs, click Turn Windows features on or off in the Programs and Features section (see picture above). Or,.. press the Windows button, type OptionalFeatures and press Enter.

To turn a Windows feature on, select the check box next to the feature.

You can create an alias for anything you want and export it so you can share it with other users.

Enable support for 4GB of RAM (or more) in Vista 32-bit

On a computer that has 4 GB of RAM, the System Properties dialog box and the System Information dialog box may report less memory than you expect. This problem occurs because the address space is limited to 4 GB in a 32-bit hardware environment. Memory may be relocated to make room for addresses that the basic input/output system (BIOS) reserves for hardware. However, because of this limitation, Windows Vista cannot access memory that is relocated above the 4 GB boundary.

Solution: Open an elevated Command Prompt, type BCDEdit /set pae ForceEnable and press Enter.

The pae parameter enables Physical Address Extension (PAE). On 32-bit versions of Windows, PAE is disabled by default. PAE is an addressing strategy that uses a page-translation hierarchy to enable systems with 32-bit addressing to address more than 4 GB of physical memory. PAE also supports several advanced system and processor features, such as Data Execution Prevention (DEP; "No execute"), Non-Uniform Memory Architecture (NUMA), and hot-add memory, so it is also used on computers with less than 4 GB of memory. PAE must be supported by the processor.

On a computer that supports hardware-enabled Data Execution Prevention (DEP), PAE is automatically enabled when DEP is enabled and automatically disabled when you disable DEP. To enable PAE when DEP is disabled, you must enable PAE explicitly: Open an elevated Command Prompt.
Type BCDEdit /set nx AlwaysOff & BCDEdit /set pae ForceEnable and press Enter.

Repartition a hard disk by using the Shrink feature

Customize / hide the Favorite Links list

The Navigation Pane is devided into two sections: Favorite Links & Folders.
The Favorite Links contains links to commonly used folders and saved searches.
You can add new links by dragging folders and/or saved searches into the list.
You can also drag folders from the Folders list to the Favorite Links section.
This is a convenient way to quickly access folders and searches you use often.
You can reposition a link by dragging it to the position where you want it to be.
To remove a link from the list, right-click on the link and select Remove Link.
Restore default links: right-click a blank area and select Restore Default Favorite Links.

Enable Advanced Disk Performance

When enabled, the hard disk drive operates in write-back cache mode, in which all the data that gets written to the drive is first stored in the cache, and then later written to the disk. Both writes and reads are cached in this case. When disabled, the HDD operates in write-through cache mode, in which all data that gets written to the drive is immediately written to the disks and also stored in the cache. Writes are not cached, but reads are.

Note: This setting is recommended only for disks with a backup power supply, it further improves disk performance, but it also increases the risk of data loss if the disk loses power.

Open Device Manager, expand Disk drives, right-click on a Disk drive, click Properties, click the Policies tab, select the Enable advanced performance check box, and then click OK.

TakeOwn.reg adds a Take Ownership Context Menu Item to all files and folders. It opens an Elevated Command Prompt which recovers full access to the selected file / directory, sub directories and their content.
You can access the Context Menu Item by holding down Shift + right-click on a file or folder.

If you want to access the Take Ownership Context Menu Item on an exe file, you must merge "RunAsAdmin_Exe-.reg"; this reg file removes the "Run as Administrator" Context Menu Item from all exe files (they both use the runas key). Merge "RunAsAdmin_Exe+.reg" if you want to restore the "Run as Administrator" Context Menu Item.

Deleting the Undeletable

As many of us move forward from Windows XP or prior beta versions of Windows Vista to the final RTM version, I thought this little tip might be in order. You may be aware that Windows Vista includes a number of different ways to upgrade a computer, from a straight in-place upgrade (insert CD, run setup and choose upgrade) to Windows Easy Transfer, which allows you to copy settings, programs and data from an old setup a fresh shiny new OS environment. In doing this, it's not unusual to find some folders that can't be accessed, even by an administrator, because their ACLs were set for accounts with SIDs that applied to an old partition.

How do you take it back? -> The secret lies in two command-line utilities, one ancient, the other completely revised for this release. Respectively, these are takeown (which takes ownership of a file or directory) and icacls (which sets new ACLs on that directory). I created a small batch command on my system called itsmine.cmd, as follows:

takeown /f %1 /r /d y
icacls %1 /grant administrators:F /t

From an elevated command prompt, you can run a command such as itsmine D:\hard_to_delete and this will reset ownership and ACLs on the hard_to_delete directory such that a command like rd /s D:\hard_to_delete should work.

Remove the arrow (Shortcut Overlay) without side effects (32 & 64-bit)

Most Tweak programs remove the arrows by renaming or removing the IsShortCut String Values from the registry. Windows uses this value to track links, if you remove or rename the IsShortCut value lots of programs and features that use links won't work correctly -> in Vista the shortcuts in Favorite Links, Media Center and in the Games Explorer disappear or won't work anymore.

The files in the zip file below remove the arrows the same way as TweakUI does in previous Windows versions; it refers the icon to another icon. If you refer it to a completely blank icon, the overlays turn black when you restart Explorer or Log Off and Log On again. Solution: I've created a blank icon with some transparent pixels and with the same sizes as the default arrow -> no more arrows & no black overlays.

Install: If you used a program or a reg file that removed the IsShortCut values; merge RestoreArrow.reg to restore them. Copy Blank.ico to the Windows directory from Vista, so if you installed Vista on the D drive, copy it to D:\Windows\. Merge RemoveArrow.reg and Log Off or Restart your Computer.

Windows Vista 64-bit users: Merge RemoveArrow_[C].reg if you installed Vista on your C drive, Merge RemoveArrow_[D].reg if you installed Vista on your D drive. If you installed Vista on another drive, just edit one of the RemoveArrow_[X].reg files so that it points to the Windows directory of Vista.

Uninstall: Merge RestoreArrow.reg and remove Blank.ico from your Windows directory.
Log Off or Restart your computer.

SPEEDUP NETWORKING WHILE RUNNING MULTIMEDIA APPLICATIONS

Windows Vista throttles your network bandwidth when you are playing any multimedia file such as an MP3 or a video. This was designed to ensure the CPU has enough free cycles available to play your media without skipping. The down side is that when you are playing a multimedia file you will notice that your network speed of file transfers will decrease on high speed network connections. By default when you are playing a multimedia file your network transfers are limited to 10 packets per millisecond.

In Windows Vista SP1 Microsoft introduces a registry key that allows you to customize this setting.

You cannot uninstall SP1 after running the above command!
